Silica Gels :
Silica Gels have high specificity for removal of haze forming proteins, reducing chill haze and extend product shelf life. Hydro Gels should be used completely when a bag is opened, due to their high propensity for contamination once open. Zero-Gels are not susceptible to contamination, and may be used partially, and stored in closed containers for continued use. Zero-Gels are thus the recommended products for smaller breweries. We have switched to the Millennium SiL-PROOF ZeroGel after seeing reports of comparison testing, in which Millennium’s product out-performs competitive products. Silica Zero-Gels may be combined with great success with Irish Moss products and/or PVPP for exceptional clarity, as the products attack different length proteins.
We now stock the Millennium in convenient 25 lb bags.

Millennium SiL-PROOF BG6 ZeroGel |
An amorphous silica zerogel, designed to selectively adsorb undesirable haze-forming proteins for cost-effective chillproofing performance. Sil-Proof has been optimized to provide superior chillproofing performance versus hydrogels and other xerogels. Contact time 3 minutes. If switching from a hydrogel, initial tests for Sil-Proof should be at 1/3 the hydrogel amount previously used. |
